President's Foreword
The European Federation of Explosives Engineers, EFEE, hereby invites you to our next World Conference on Explosives and Blasting in Lisbon 18th – 20th September 2011.
Since 1988 EFEE has arranged 5 World Conferences with great success and we are fully convinced that our 6th Conference at the Corinthia Hotel in Lisbon will be the same and attract delegates from all over the World.
The Conference will be arranged together with the Portuguese Association of Studies and Engineering of Explosives, AP3E.
The beautiful city of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, lies on the European Atlantic coast and has a history with more than 800 years of cultural influence together with modern trends. Its unique centre with a wide variety of parks, nature and street cafés combined with a pleasant climate throughout the year makes it a perfect place for the EFEE Conference. During the Conference a program for participants and spouses has been arranged; including sight seeing around the Lisbon area.
The Conference will start on Sunday with registration, workshops and welcome reception followed by presentations and exhibition on Monday to Tuesday. The concept to start with workshops on Sundays has been much appreciated. Two topics for these workshops are planned to be presented; the new EU directives and secondly practical cases how to handle and solve vibration, noise disturbances in urban tunnelling projects.
EFEE expects more than 500 professionals from over 50 different countries creating a great opportunity to meet colleagues from the construction, demolition, quarrying and mining industry to built networks and exchange information, news and techniques both for users and manufactures of explosives and drilling operations as well as for consultants and clients.
At the luxurious Corinthia Hotel there will be convenient auditoriums to sit and listen to all of the professional papers being presented on the latest techniques, products and developments covering the art of successful Blasting. There will also be a great exhibition area to visit where the latest products, equipment, accessories and technique used will be shown. This gives a great chance to talk with suppliers, designers and manufactures.
These EFEE Conferences have also been excellent opportunities to meet old friends from all over the world for a couple of days. Meeting each other in Lisbon and exchanging experience and information can never be wrong.
